We recently spent a week in the Pittsburgh area. Clairton, Jefferson, and surrounding areas. I had a great time meeting Joanie Jordan, who I’d only known through the net. She is a key player in the revitalization of Clairton. Joanie took me on a tour of Clairton and showed me some of the improvements the citizens are making. Clairton is prominently mentioned in my book, 50 Shades of Grades, as it is where I was born, raised, and began my schooling.
While in the area I was also able to meet or talk to Board members, the principal, and the superintendent of the Clairton School District.
Met with area educator and legend Don Taylor. Don is a CHS graduate, teacher at the high school, and one of the founders of the local community college. His memory is vast and it is always a pleasure talking to him.
Spoke to Joyce Schmidt, local historian and librarian and she will spread the word about the book to local librarians. Also spoke to Clairton Public Library Director Emma Anderson. She was excited about the book as well.
Took a quick side trip to Hershey and Harrisburg where I spoke to a group about the content of 50 Shades of Grades. The chat went very well and I signed several books.
It was a great trip and I’m back and ready to catch up. Will keep you posted about the book’s progress.
It was so nice to visit with you and Don Taylor on your recent trip. I’m looking forward to reading reviews of your followers. I enjoyed the book; however, I am more than a little biased!
Thank you for the vote of confidence. Glad you enjoyed the book. Here’s hoping it touches many young people and gives them hope.
