I am so excited to announce the release of my latest historical novel, Three Lives of Peter Novak, published by Blue Sun Studio, Inc. The story will appeal to you, particularly if you are descended from immigrants. Characters are diverse. The Bosnian Serbian protagonist, Peter Novak, was brought into the world by a Muslim midwife, indentured to a German horse breeder, befriended by an American diplomat, and lived in a Croatian boarding house. His story offers plenty of excitement and intrigue.
Peter Novak is no stranger to hardship. His life of abject poverty begins as his mother’s life ends. Sold into indentured servitude at age eight, a privileged life does not seem likely. But hard work, ingenuity, and loyalty to his master earns him an opportunity for freedom.
A new life awaits Peter in America, but he soon discovers the streets are not paved with gold. In fact, most are not paved at all. Filthy air, social unrest, and prejudice toward immigrants do not stop him from building a comfortable life – almost. A ghost from his past threatens to divulge Peter’s deepest, darkest secrets and tear his world apart.
Much of the story takes place in the booming industrial days of the early twentieth century, along the Monongahela Valley, from Pittsburgh to Clairton to Charleroi. The book has elements of kindness and brutality, of chicanery and intrigue. It is a story I am certain you will enjoy.
Three Lives of Peter Novak is available in multiple formats, Kindle, ePub, paperback, and a beautiful collector’s hardback edition with a dust jacket.
Copies of this hot-off-the-presses book are available at BarnesandNoble.com, Amazon.com, and traditional bookselling venues. Signed copies can be purchased from the web site, andynixonwordsmith.com
