50 Shades of Grades: My Journey Through Wacademia has been launched. Preparing for this day has been more fun than grueling. With my two superb mentors, Deb Dorchak and Wendi Kelly guiding me, this has been a great learning process. I also did research on my own. There is a neat little bookstore in La Jolla, CA called Warwicks. I headed down there for a several days and attended book signings by several local authors. Most recently I went to Long Beach, CA and observed a convention of people promoting books and such, then sailed to Santa Catalina Island and shared my book on the isle. A week from Friday I will go to the Pittsburgh area, where the story in the book begins, and do a couple of talks and book signings in the area.
My memoirs begin when I was just a lad, struggling through the rigors of the first grade. Those struggles for adequate grades continued through elementary, junior high, and high school. It was not until I reached college (quite by accident, with my grades) that I realized that I learned differently than most people. Once I realized that the problem was one of learning mode and not stupidity, I began to blossom. From that point onward my life has been a series of adventures, some accidental, a few by design. But always an adventure.
Here’s hoping you have a safe and happy Fourth of July.
